COMPOST REGULATIONS & POLICY

According to a memo from the USDA, they have endorsed the recommendations of the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) regarding compost-making, which is posted on the NOP website.  This means that on-farm composting is once again a reasonable option for certified organic operations, if the steps they outline are possible.  See NOSB policies on the National Organic Program website for details at www.ams.usda.gov/nop/.
