Pasture Walk at Cross Island Farms

Cross Island Farms is a certified organic farm raising fruit, vegetables and grass-fed livestock. Come join us for a pasture walk discussing their experiences establishing birdsfoot trefoil pastures using small tractor implements and hand tools and results from their grazing study comparing parasite loads and weight gains of grassfed goat kids grazing birdsfoot trefoil to those of kids grazing their original pastures. 

This project was funded by the USDA NIFA Organic Transitions Program Project entitled “Overcoming barriers to transitioning small ruminants to organic production: Effects of feeding birdsfoot trefoil on parasite control, nutritional status & profitability”
