Rex and Connie Farr of Farrm Wine
Farrm Wine Vineyard is the only certified organic/biodynamic farmed vineyard on Long Island. As the region’s first certified organic vineyard, there have been no chemicals or synthetics used since 1985. They became the first certified organic/ biodynamic farm in 1990 producing organic vegetables of 50-60 different varieties, herbs and small fruits. The farm evolved over the years, shifting the focus from produce to wine grapes. The vineyard was planted in 2005 and its first harvest crop was in 2012. Farr makes a limited number of acclaimed award-winning reds and rosé reflecting the quintessential “terroir”, the taste of the North Fork of Long Island.

Bill and Larry Halsey of Green Thumb Organic Farm
Our family has lived and farmed this beautiful land since the mid-1600s. When Bill and Larry Halsey were growing up, the family farmed conventionally on the South Fork of Long Island and sold their produce at their farm stand, The Green Thumb. After college in the mid 1970’s, the Halsey boys wanted to farm organically and their dad Ray gave his blessings. Bill and Larry started slowly with a few different crops, 100,000 earthworms, and an appreciation for biodynamics. By the mid-1980s, they decided to become certified with NOFA-NY. Today the farm has over 100 acres of fruits, vegetables, flowers, herbs, and greens. The family still sells its produce at their farm stand on Montauk Highway in Water Mill. Bill and Larry have added vegetables, flowers, and herb plants for home gardens. Today, Bill, Larry, and their two sisters continue to run the farm along with some of the next generation.
